Gem Bible - Gemstone Library

Back to projects

Gem Bible is an internal project: a library of gemstones rendered live from their real optical physics, color, cut, pleochroism, UV fluorescence, instead of photographed or modeled. It covers 43 species, cut and natural forms, and the practical information a buyer actually wants before paying for a stone: price range, care, how to tell it from a look-alike. Built with input from people in the gemstone trade: dealers and collectors. Bilingual, EN/ES.

Rendered, not photographed

Every stone runs through a spectral path tracer built in-house (WebGPU, with a WebGL2 fallback for older devices), tracing the real optics of each species: dispersion, pleochroism, how a UV lamp makes a stone glow or stay inert. Turn a stone, switch it between its cut and natural raw form, pass a UV torch over it, and the render responds, because it is derived from physics, not swapped for a different asset.

Built with the people who handle stones

The catalog is shaped by input from people in the gemstone trade: dealers and collectors, on what a buyer actually needs to know before paying for a stone. That is why every species carries a dealer-sourced price range, care guidance, common look-alikes, and what the stone has meant to people, next to the render itself.
